It has to be Michael Vaughan. Dismal batting, captaincy and fielding.
Makhaya Ntini would be another player that hasnt fired on all cylinders at all in this WC.

Habibal Bashar has been a letdown too scuudz. Bangladesh have had their
successes in this tournament , but I think they did that without much
help from the skipper.

Good to see that Gayle continues to support my post. 1 (11) against Bangladesh. Very poor tournament by the big man is the nice way of putting it....

I think Justin Kemp's name is missing, the man has not done anything with the bat has dropped a few catches and has been pretty average with the ball. He has certainly not lived up to his expectations with a batting avaerage of 8.00.

Russel Arnold. Complete failure. Upul Tharanga is also under performing

Yes i wonder why Marvan is still sitting it out when Upull's not done anything so far except a 100 ball 62.

Realistically: I don't think Justin Kemp's name deserves to be in this thread. You have to at least have some expectation on you to be considered a failure. I don't think many people (apart from the controversial SA selectors) actually expected Kemp to do anything. He can't bowl, he can't bat (99% of the time), and he's off the par in terms of south african fielding. His place in the squad still to this day astounds me. I keep hoping he'll prove me wrong, but I know it's not gonna happen. |

Didn't Arnold and Dilshan put on a few big partnerships together during the first half of the tournament? |

Yep against SA but Russel Arnold didn't perform at his best but still he is in the team to do the rescue act and he has done a fair job at that.
SL still doesn't posses batsmen who can slog at the end of the innings. We rely on the first 20 overs to boost the run rate and then play the singles game with the odd boundary in it.
So naturally there is a possibility of SL being in 5 down or something for a very low score and thats why we play the extra batsmen to stop the collapse.
Tharanga too is underperforming but atleast he laid the foundation in both the India & England matches with his half centuries Edited by ramzi - 23 April 2007 at 6:06pm |

Ross Taylor for NZ was a big disappointment. He looked so good against the Aussies before the WC and ended up with 107 runs at and average of 17 in six knocks, striking at 67. I was certainly expecting more from him as im sure the Kiwi team and fans were.

Ross Taylor.
Explanation: He has been injured for most of tournament however his performances have lacked when ever he was playing. The reason i'm saying he is a WC failure is because he hasn't lived up to the hype he created beforehand.
Future: Next WC will be his. Four more years of international cricket will turn him into an absolute superstar.
Its all there mate.

Shaun Pollock's batting was incredibly timid - such a fine
striker of the ball and I can't remember seeing a single blow in anger
throughout the tournament.

He has been fantastic for them Sledge and i think it will be a sad for any Proteas fan as well as any cricket fan when he hangs up the boots. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching him for a long time. A brilliant all round cricketer.

Michael Vaughan is probably the biggest disappointment when it comes to ODI's. He maybe a very good test player and captain but he just doesn't cut it when it comes to one dayers and why he is still there I cannot understand. Considering that his average at 27 is just 6 more than Brett Lee who is a tail ender I'm astonished that he is still in the one day team.
