Learn how to comment?  I would say thats pretty patronising.  Lets just calm down here and leave me to exercise better judgement when posting, shall we?

england's group itself is not as easy as it seems!!! Expect anything from Kenya!!! Even the iindian group is not safe enough!!! BD is strong enough to beat them on  the given day

BDs victory against NZ and poor display by SA tells the whole story.

Conditions in WI are identical to those in sub-continent. So SA, NZ and Eng are all going to suffer.

Ind, Sri Lanka and Pak have won their matches convincingly. So again... at least two of the Asian sides are expected to appear in the semis!!!

WI at home
NZ inspired by Bond I hope
Aust based on Gilly posting the first double hundred
SL based on Sanath and Murali having picnics.
Judge the player not by their stats, but by their opposition.

Wow! Krisdy, you're really sticking your neck out there... Aus with only 3 Super 8 wins, SA with only 1, England with 6 wins and Ireland qualifying from group stages. Not impossible, but you'll get really huge odds from the bookies for those figures.

India going through undefeated is real confidence.

I doubt India could go two games without being defeated.

Their inconsistent, like most teams in world cricket. I think the most exciting aspect to this world cup, other than the fantastic cricket is going to be played, is that the gap between best and worst is progressively getting smaller. Australia are no longer the world's best side, Bangladesh have it in them to create a few upsets...keep on rolling I say.
Good one Graham!

I agree.  To be honest, we are amusing ourselves with predictions and expectations based on general team strength and current form.  Anything is possible.  And teams like BD and Ireland looking good is great for the game.

Aaaah Krisdy's post gave me just the laugh I needed to kickstart my day. Thanks for that. I can't wait to see him and Venjen bang heads.

Aus and SA to win 2 and 1 games respectively?
India to go undefeated through the tournament?
Ireland to out-qualify Pakistan?

Careful, someone might think you're from India...

I think Pak have been under-rated too much here. Everyone is considering them worse than even Ireland.

But I'm sure they have got the side that is capable of beating anyone in the world. Combination of 5 all-rounders with 3 class batsmen is always going to challenge you strongly. Smile

Without Asif and Shoaib they don't have enough bowling though.

As for my predictions, I couldn't begin to predict a winner since every team I thought was a favourite (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa) has done their utmost recently to prove me wrong. At a push I'd go for those three for the semis, along with the West Indies who I think will pull it out the bag in front of their passionate home fans. I'm not sure I'd back them to win it, but then I wouldn't back anyone to win it on current form!

Finally, I can't see past Lara as star player...the stage is perfectly set and I don't think he'll let us down, I also see Bond and Pietersen having big tournaments

I'm actually rather disappointed that Asif and Shoaib aren't playing. They're excellent bowlers and are the rock of Pakistan's seam attack. Without they are much, much weaker. I was picking them as semi-finalists along with SA, Aus and Sri Lanka.

NZ won't make the semis, they don't have it them. I'll be chuffed if they do but I can't see past those damn Aussies.
Good one Graham!

If that is how you feel Bond then I think you highly underestimate your side. The batting is solid and with the emergence of Gillespie and Oram as a genuine match winner with bat and ball, I feel you have a chance. I will admit you can not afford injury and you are reliant on two or three payers but who isn't.

Do nt discount the Kiwi charge.

As WI wickets r slow wickets....it will be difficult for kiwis to reach semis....the reason....all of their batters except Fleming like the ball coming on to the bat...thts y they lost the warm-up game playing too many shots
