How could you prefer Powar to Kumble????Confused Does the wicket in Trinidad really suit spin bowling anyway........Maybe Kumble has not been playing like we would expect him to do of late but he is still class and deserves to be on that team. Interesting things happen during the world cup and no doubt with a player like Kumble he is VERY capable of something special for the tournament. With regards to Sehwag's selection I believe that he does deserve a selection for the world cup. However, you disagree with me there so tell me then....if you don't want Sehwag to play for the world cup which BATSMAN would you have preferred to take his place?????

for sure, clark would have been a much better choice!! Watson and Lee are likely to go for plenty on those pitches. Clark would have made things steadier!! Its a big mistake

Quite predictable squad , only the one mildly surprising selection.  I just wonder what the 15 would've looked like England had got belted by NZ in that crucial encounter.......Clobs in as a Scot who's resided in England for long enough?

Well South Africa have stuck to their guns and seem to have chosen an identical squad to the one that beat Pakistan. I can't help but feel that the back up is a bit thin.

The West Indies selectors has named the 15 man squad. They are;

Gayle, Simmons, Lara, Sarwan, Chanderpaul, D Smith, Bravo, Devon Smith, Ramdin, Collymore, Bradshaw, Taylor, Powell, K Pollard (new comer), Samuels.

That looks a good squad! Bowlers, all-rounders, batsman! Good enough.

Last year i use to say Tresscothick will great a huge amount of damage in this worldcup but that is not possible now.

I think it is a big lost to england and as a part time supporter of england, it will be a big lost to me as well.

He is a mammoth loss to England's ODI side without a shadow of a doubt, but there will be plenty other teams bemoaning the absence of key players throughout the tournament, you can be sure of that

Cannot believe that no Shabbir in Pakistan's squad. Old is gold, and I think shabbir would be a much better choice than Rao Ifthikhar.

You think his bowling would have suited the pitch down here in the west indies?

Well Devon smith is in West indies squad. He looks in good first class form, but i always believed firstclass and international matches are different because their are better players at one level than the other.

In the recent KFC first class matches, Devon Smith hit 58 in the quater final, i seen him played a great 75 in the semi final and a cracking 81 in the finals At Arnos vale, st.vincent, with terrific drives and sensational cut shots. I just hope he will transfer this form into the worldcup.

Shabbir is a very very good bowler, and more so for his wicket taking ability, but pakistan has already chosen two injured players to travel with the team in Gull and Shoab, and Mohammad Asif has some recurrence of his elbow nigle too, so in actuality rao and rana are two fit bowlers they have, so they could not risk another player with injury to have travelled, as they need to field atleast three fast bowlers every match.
so far so good!

On first look this looks a very balanced squad on paper. Chanderpaul, gayle, sarawan, lara, samuels, bravo ramdin, very very formidable line up, bowling bradshaw, collimore, taylor, gayle and bravo, I think looks balanced for windies pitches. Not sure what new comers will add but if they do it would be a side to look forward too, so cant count them out.
so far so good!

Well Shabbir is a tall bowler with pace and accuracy (Two things you rarely find together!!!). So he can be deadly on any kind of track, be it a South African bouncy pitch or be it a dead pakistani track.

Pollard is the man to look out for Wisey! This is his first year in first class cricket and he has already scored 2 ton in 4 day match at an average of 48. He also has a limited overs ton at an average of 43. It's just the beginning though but he is a real entertainer and a very powerful and big lad. He bowls medium pacers too. I say play him for Dwayne Smith - it's worth it! I mean, he simply can't be any worst than Dwayne Smith!!!!

The top squad on paper is Australia, but four of them are currently injured. Taking into account fitness, South Africa surely has the best squad. They have two of the world's four best bowlers in Pollock and Ntini, and five of the world's top twenty bowlers when you include Nel, Langeveldt and Hall. They have six batsmen in the top thirty: Smith, Kallis, Gibbs, Boucher, de Villiers and Prince. You cannot argue with their new status as world number one either. But cricket is a fickle game and this world cup is very open. With superstars in every team, this could be a cracker tournament. My pick: the SA squad to scrape through to the title that has eluded them four times before.
JH Kallis is the only player in history to have 8000 runs, 200 wickets and 100 catches in BOTH forms of the game. Only Sobers (tests) and Jayasuriya (one dayers) have achieved half that feat.

Hayden should be fit..meanwhile Lee has been ruled out of the WC and Stuart Clark has been airlifted into the squad. It's about time Clark's been added. He will add lot's of strength to our bowling and to be very honest, when Clark is in that bowling attack, it look's so much settled.
"His classical hits down the ground, met with a checked drive, were Tendulkar at his best. It was though he had a new lease of life." - Sachin Tendulkar's return to cricket with a 91-Ball century.
