Perfect choice as far as Pak are concerned. I would like to see Kaneria in place of Afridi, though!!!
And I don't agree with Pak management in playing Razzaq. He's been poor in all departments for a long time now. But pakistanis are happy to give him chance in every match, just like the Indians are happy to try Sehwag again and again!!! |

Pakistan isn't that spoilt for choice right now, GreenCap.
Anyway, I think that Razzaq is quite a solid pick. Even if he may not be bowling at his best, he can still knock a few out the park with his bat, and he's been doing that recently too.

I don't like your choice for the West Indies XI.....
Tell me why you would choose Dwayne Smith.....I can't figure out that selection at all. I wonder why the west indies selectors choose him in their world cup team but they are not here to answer that question so since you think he should be in the squad I would like to know from you why do you think he deserves that place....Please tell me because I am dying to find out the answer to this question.

Dwayne Smith is only there because he is from Barbados Daisy! If he was from the Windward Islands, he would have been discarded long time!

Yes Spin it has to be a political thing!!! That's evident because he really sucks at cricket ..I think we realised that a long time now because it's been series after series that he has performed bad and yet those stupid selectors still pick him!!!!

Don't worry Daisy, Taylor will be knocking over batsmen for us! He is a wicket taker and already getting into a great death bowler!

Hopefully you are right because if he doesn't I don't know who will. I really don't like our bowling line up for this world cup!!! I don't even like this squad !!!! I don't think they could win the world cup with the squad they have.

If shoaib and asif don't play this worldcup there is no hope for pak unless afridi fire on all cylinders during every match.

Well they most likely won't which is a big blow to the Paki team. However, they still have other bowlers which have the ability to do something for their team. Plus the bowling is not the only thing that wins matches....batting does too. You can't just depend on one aspect of it...batting and bowling works together. Even if the bowlers perform great but the batsmen do rubbish then what sense would it all make. Hopefully you all are getting my point. Pak has some good batsmen so don't give up all hope yet just because two of your key bowlers are gone. Look at the windies for example they do NOT have any exceptional bowlers and still they managed to make it to the finals in the ICC Champs this year. I don't know what they are going to do for the world cup though. It looks kind of gloomy for them I must admit.

True mate, one day cricket is considered a batsmen's game for long, and bowlers have to perform really well to win for their countries. Score of 350 have been chased regularly, just a few big partnerships and bang. If west indian batting performs consistantly, I believe their bowling attack can save a few matches for them. Technically, teams with poor bowling line up should be ready to chase around 300 - 350 every match, so is pakistan and west indies good enough to chase that sort of total consistantly will give us their final standing.
teams like india , south africa, newzealand can expect scores in the range of 250-270, sri lanka , australia 270-300, not much sure about english team though but I would bracket them with pakistan and west indies in going for runs!

Razzaq out for Pakistan, although Umar Gul has been passed fit.
http://www.cricketworld.com/pakistan/article/?aid=9739 Azhar Mahmood comes in to replace Razzaq. Edited by -JP- - 27 February 2007 at 3:10pm |

Hi guys ,
Pakistan squad must be like this !!
1 I Nazir
2 Akmal
3 Younas Khan
4 M Yousif
5 Inzimam ul haq
6 S Afridi / Hafeez
7 S Malik
8 Azhar Mahmood
9 S Akhtar
10 U Gul
11 M Asif
Remember Afridi is not playing first two games so hafeez gonna play for him.may opner.
I think instead of Azhar they should bring sulman butt cz long batting line up and they have three fast bowlers shoaib , asif and gul ,then afridi and malik allrounder .

A hole was been put into PAK now!! Losing Razzaq is not good for them! A nasty hitter of the ball to the death and good with the ball! I am starting to write PAK off now!

Nah....you all should still be able to beat the two lower ranked teams in your group!! I don't think Pak will be so horrible to lose to them....

Pakistan has finally got the 15 they would be playing with, probably afridi will miss the initial matches, so Gull, Navid, Sami, kaneria will be the four bowlers they will have in addition to the allrounders, in shoab malik, azhar mehmood and hafeez. Cant be sure of the team combination once Afridi comes back.

Well they won their warm up match against South Africa yesterday!!! That's good for them going into the world cup. People were really putting down Pak for this world cup and they had no confidence in them but Pak managed to pull off a win against the team that is ranking number one in ODI cricket so that really says something for Pak!!! It's not impossible for them to win the WC!! |

Wiseguy I am guessing that your quote "so far so good" is referring to how pak is playing so far in this world cup. They managed to win all their warm up matches.....
