It's really hard to believe that anyone can be better than the little master for India! Little master for me anyday too!

[QUOTE=Clobber] India: Sunil Gavaskar
I've been debating this for a while; Tendulkar or Gavaskar, though I think I'd go for the little master, just.

A true great, thats laughable, him and hick the 2 true greats of cricket.
I had a number 10 average above 90 last season, he was dismissed once with a season tally of 90 runs from 10 innings, 9 no's.

I know but even with all the pressure on Giles I still think averaging over 100 in a season is just unbelievable, remarkable and only a true great could achieve it.

Ramp may be better than giles but who cares Giles hit a very very Important 50 at the Oval to save the match and give england the ashes. Thats more important for english fans than what Ramp has done.

I meant as a player in general. I dont really know too much about the guy, but from the way everyone loves him on here, it seems that he is god.

Spot on. We used to have a mad Ashley Giles fan on here - he
really thought Gilo was brilliant. No harm in that , but he copped some
flak.
The important thing was that no-one could dampen his enthusiasm for his favourite player and I admired that.

That's true. Everyone has their own opinion, and not everyone has had the opportunity of watching players like Richard Hadlee or Graeme Pollock or Sunil Gavaskar in action.
Allow people to exercise their opinions. If you can't understand why they'd choose a certain someone, then it's better to ask for their reasons than to insult their knowledge.

I'm getting tired of the backbiting. For the umpteenth time ,
people's opinions are just that and should be respected.
The best cricketer in the world cannot be proven. The
fastest sprinter can be named by millions - simply because he has run
faster than any other man.
Being the highest individual runscorer or highest wicket
taker doesn't qualify one for the title of the best - that's accepted
by most knowledgeable cricket followers.
What can be derived from
past matches is the input of certain individuals over a sustained
period - when those deeds are exceptional it's fair to call that player
a great - but that is all.

...yes do you. I'm guessing he's saying these are the best ever players to play for their country. If so, that is a load of waffle.

You see, I guess you had it a bit tough with that one. Although I think Bracken's bowling is better than Lee in ODI's, I think Lee is the better player as he can bat better and field better than Bracken. But yeah, we all have our own preferences.

That's a tough one... Lee's got the speed and the advantage over batting, but Bracken's got more consistency with bowling and economy. In an ODI, I might choose to go with Bracken, if I were forced to choose between the two.
