Don't get me wrong fellas, but I'm not trying to say that someone who does 2 arts is better than a person who does one. For instance, never will I say that Flintoff is a better player than the little master.

W.G...I hope you read what they've been saying. A point to note is that, Bradman also has an 'aura' that surrounded him, as many of sports greats do. The likes of Muhammad Ali, Jack Nicklaus, Pele etc and even some of the modern sportsmen such as Tiger Woods, Sachin tendulkar and Roger federer, they all have in common a certain presence about them which is what defines their greatness in sport history.

Secondly, his freakish average of 99ish is wayy above anybody else who has or is playing cricket and to have scored as many centuries as he did for such a little amount of tests played only emphasises his talent with the bat in hand.

You have very good points mojo but tell me this, who is the better player, Bracken or Lee? Lets just base this one on ODI's!

I mostly make cameo appearances for world cups. SA hasn't had much cricket in between the two tournaments, so I've been away.

I know, Bondy... I'm also being a bit of a nut, I suppose. No offense intended, W.G. We're all entitled to our opinions. I need to read my disclaimer sometimes.

Don't sweat it Mojo. W.G' takes everything literally; he is correct in defining the word cricketer as meaning one who plays cricket, Bradman being only a batsman- but for god sakes, he knew what we meant.

It's like saying that Ronaldinho is a useless football player because he can't play goalie.

That's what I call a load of tosh.

Exactly, excellent point Mojo. In fact Don Bradman, based upon statistics, is the greatest sportsman ever- he was and still is that far ahead of his counterparts.
Good one Graham!

So why aren't "World cricketer of the year" awards always given to all-rounders then? It's not just about having more tricks up your sleeve, it's about doing what you do best. Bradman's batting contribution throughout his career was way better than most all-rounders' contributions. That makes him a better cricketer. You can't say that a specialist batsman isn't a cricketer because he can't bowl, can you?

Would you call Shane Watson a better cricketer than Matthew Hayden?

Nope, everyone has their own views! I think I might have included Bradman if I had to choose between the 2.

yes exactly, good point.

However, I would rather have Bradman in my team despite Sobers being better in the field and with the ball, simply because he was so good with the bat. Does that mean he's the greatest cricketer ever? Controversial.

I'm not too keen to say this person is the greatest cricketer but I'm my view, Sobers will always get my nod ahead of Bradman for that as he was a better bowler and Sobers could have field anywhere! It's simple, Bracken is a better ODI bowler than Lee, but overall, Lee is the better play as his batting and fielding is better!

Nope, I'm going to say there is no such thing or person as the greatest cricketer ever - as I don't recall Bradman taking wickets on a regular basis, keeping wicket or fielding to the level of some of the best ....... I do not see how he can be the greatest cricketer ever.  Load of tosh.

Its all friendly banter. Nothing intentional about it. Well, unless BFM was being serious.

Sam i am better than Bradman but the only problem is no international cricketers have seen me play, if they did Bradman would of been number 2 and I number one.
