Cricket South Africa (CSA) have confirmed the 21 players who will receive central contracts for the 2013/14 season, running from 1st May 2013 to 30th April 2014.

Dean Elgar, Rory Kleinveldt, Marchant de Lange and Aaron Phangiso have been handed national contracts for the first time and Ryan McLaren is back on the list having missed out in 2012-13.

Ashwell Prince, Juan Theron, Albie Morkel and Jacques Rudolph have lost their contracts while Mark Boucher has retired and Johan Botha was released from his contract at his own request late last year.

"The newcomers to the list are all merited," CSA selection convener Andrew Hudson said. "Dean Elgar has established himself in the Castle Lager Test squad while Rory Kleinveldt has done well across all three formats.

"Marchant de Lange was the first reserve for the Test squad until his unfortunate long-term injury and it is great to have him back operating at full pace.

"Aaron Phangiso has done really well at franchise level and has grabbed the opportunities he has had for the Proteas in the two limited overs formats.

"Ryan Mclaren has come back very strongly this season and, like Kleinveldt, has featured across the formats.

"This is a very strong group of core players which combines “youth and experience” across the three formats. There is no doubt that this group of talented cricketers will continue to successfully represent us on the international stage.

"We also have three exceptionally able leaders in Graeme Smith (Test cricket), AB de Villiers (ODI) and Faf du Plessis (T20)," he added.

South Africa contracted players 2013-14: Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, Marchant de Lange, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Imran Tahir, Colin Ingram, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Ryan McLaren, Morne Morkel, Wayne Parnell, Alviro Petersen, Robin Peterson, Aaron Phangiso, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Thami Tsolekile, Lonwabo Tsotsobe
