Four Players In Line For Derbyshire Debuts In Bristol
Derbyshire Head of Cricket John Morris has named no fewer than five new signings in his squad to take on Gloucestershire in the LV County Championship match at Bristol, starting tomorrow.
Captain Rikki Clarke, John Sadler, Dominic Telo and Nayan Doshi are in line to make their Championship debuts for the county, while Australian opener Chris Rogers is beginning his second spell with the club after playing six matches in 2004.
The 12-man squad in full is as follows: Stephen Stubbings, Chris Rogers, John Sadler, Dominic Telo, Rikki Clarke (Captain), Greg Smith, James Pipe (WK), Graham Wagg, Jake Needham, Tom Lungley, Ian Hunter and Nayan Doshi.
Morris selected his squad from a fully fit squad – with the exception of Kevin Dean who misses out with a knee injury.
Derbyshire have played out high-scoring midsummer draws on their previous two visits to Bristol, but early season conditions dictate that a positive result is far more likely on this occasion.
All-rounder Graham Wagg – who took 53 wickets and scored 530 runs in 2007 – will be hoping to repeat the five-wicket haul he achieved in this fixture last season, while Stephen Stubbings is aiming to recapture the form which score him score 103 at Bristol in 2003.
