Rain badly hampered the ninth round of matches in the John Smith's North Lancashire and Cumbria League as only two games could be played to a conclusion.

Furness easily beat struggling Whitehaven by eight wickets after Whitehaven were bowled out for 82 and Workington smashed Kirkby by 212 runs to take their second win of the season.

The remaining four games were drawn, leaving Cockermouth (137 points) clear of Furness (131) and Millom (126) at the top of the table.

It was a similar story in Division Two, where one game wasn't started, and another was called off early. Appleby Eden suffered their first loss of the season, bowled out for 86 by Workington II although they stay on top of the table, leading Wigton by 11 points.
