Gambhir Passed Fit To Play In Champions Trophy
Indian opener Gautam Gambhir has recovered from the groin strain that kept him out of India's tour of Sri Lanka and he has been passed fit to play in the Champions Trophy.
The left-hander's return to fitness is a welcome boost for India, who will be without his regular opening partner Virender Sehwag and left-arm fast bowler Zaheer Khan when they take on Australia, Pakistan and the West Indies in Group A of the tournament in South Africa.
Virat Kohli was called up as cover when India travelled to Sri Lanka, where they beat the hosts to win the Compaq Cup ODI tri-series, which also included New Zealand.
India's first game in the Champions Trophy is on 26th September when they meet arch-rivals Pakistan at Centurion Park.
