Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has been ruled out of the remainder of the tour of England after struggling to recover from concussion earlier in the tour.
He suffered the concussion during the fourth and final Test at The Oval when he fell backwards attempting to take a catch and was diagnosed at the time with mild concussion.
He subsequently went for precautionary CT and MRI scans of his head and neck and although he was given the all-clear, he reported problems focussing on objects and visual disturbances, which have been put down to the concussion.
As such, he has been advised to rest and will return to India, and will be replaced in India's One-Day International squad by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja while Suresh Raina will assume vice-captaincy duties.
With India already missing Virender Sehwag through injury, Rahul Dravid is expected to make his Twenty20 International debut while Gambhir's absence could give uncapped batsman Ajinkya Rahane an opportunity, either during the T20 game at Old Trafford or during the five-match One-Day International series that follows.
India ODI/T20I squad: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Suresh Raina (vice-captain), Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel, Ranganath Vinay Kumar, Amit Mishra, Parthiv Patel, Varun Aaron, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja
