West Indies have announced their 13-man squad for the first Test against New Zealand on Wednesday in Antigua. They have been forced to make at least one change from the side that played the third Test against England at Edgbaston in June, with Darren Bravo out injured.
Chris Gayle is likely to open with Adrian Barath, while Kieran Powell and Assad Fudadin will battle it out for the number three spot. Marlon Samuels, Shiv Chanderpaul and Narsingh Deonarine – the latter two who have been in good form recently for the WICB President’s XI – will make up the middle-order, while Ravi Rampaul and Tino Best are expected to compete for one pace bowling spot.
West Indies have already won both limited-overs series comfortably and will want to continue that good form and secure victory in the two-Test series, the second match of which will be played at Sabina Park from 2nd August.
West Indies squad: Darren Sammy (captain), Adrian Barath, Tino Best, Shiv Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Assad Fudadin, Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Kieran Powell, Denesh Ramdin (wicket-keeper), Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels.
