GCCC Announce Signing Of Anthony Ireland

Gloucestershire have announced the signing of Zimbabwean pace bowler Anthony Ireland for the coming 2007 season.

Ireland, 22, has signed a two year contract and has played in 26 one-day internationals for his country before announcing his international retirement and playing for Gloucester Seconds last season.

Head coach Mark Alleyne said "We are excited Anthony can now join us after featuring in the 2nd XI last year. He is going to add significant depth to the bowling department and we look forward to his immense contribution."

Ireland himself is equally pleased to have signed his contract:

"I am really glad to be playing for Gloucestershire. I firmly believe that the intensity of the first class game in England will improve my cricket quickly and I can’t wait to get started", he added.
