Herschelle Gibbs has been passed fit and will return to the South African side to play in the second one-day international against New Zealand in Port Elizabeth on Friday, Cricket South Africa have revealed.
Morne Van Wyk, who replaced Gibbs in Durban, has been released from the squad and will play for Gestetner Diamond Eagles in their SuperSport Series match against the Chevrolet Warriors which begins on Thursday in Bloemfontein.
Coach Mickey Arthur said in a statement, "(Team physiotherapist) Shane Jabaar told me that Herschelle came through his fitness test very well and could have played as early as today (Wednesday)."
Gibbs missed the opening match, which South Africa won by two wickets, in which replacement Morne Van Wyk failed to score.
