Glamorgan have signed Australia and New South Wales all-rounder Moises Henriques as their overseas player for the first half of the 2012 season.
Henriques, 25, will cover for compatriot Marcus North, who will now join up with Glamorgan after the birth of his second child.
A hard-hitting batsman and wicket-taking right-arm fast medium bowler, Henriques has played two One-Day Internationals and a Twenty20 International for Australia, has been a consistent performer with New South Wales at domestic level and in the Champions League Twenty20 and has representing the Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sydney Sixers in Twenty20 cricket.
"I am delighted that Moises will be joining us for the first part of the season," Matthew Mott, Head of Elite Performance at Glamorgan, said.
"The 2012 fixtures will see us play nearly a third of our Championship matches within the first five weeks of the season. Given the probability of bowler-friendly conditions, we have opted for an all-rounder, which will provide us with some additional options as we look to start the season in a positive manner.
"Moises is an extremely talented cricketer who I have known for seven years – I look forward to his arrival later this month."
Henriques added: "I am thrilled to be joining Glamorgan – they are an ambitious County and I look forward to working with Matthew Mott again. The first few weeks of the season will be hugely important for all Counties and I hope to make a positive contribution for Glamorgan as they look to start the season on the front foot."
