Glamorgan have suspended Mike O'Shea after he broke the club's code of employment by driving under the influence of alcohol. A disciplinary hearing ruled that O'Shea would be suspended from all cricket for a period of three weeks.
“The club takes matters like this extremely seriously," Director of Cricket Mike Maynard said.
"Mike O’Shea is a talented cricketer at Glamorgan but he has severely broken the code of employment. This will not be tolerated, he has been duly suspended and we can only hope that he uses this time as a period of reflection.”
O'Shea said he had accepted the club's decision.
“I am deeply embarrassed about my behaviour and I apologise unreservedly to Glamorgan and the supporters for the effects my actions have had on the Club," he said. "I accept without question all the sanctions the Club have decided to impose on me. Drink driving is utterly unacceptable and totally out of character for me.”
O'Shea, 21, had made three appeareances for Glamorgan this season.
