18-year-old fast bowler Graeme McCarter has been given a summer contract which will develop into a full-time contract for the 2012 season.

He has been part of the Academy programme since 2008 and has represented Ireland at Under-13, Under-15 and Under-19 level.

“I am delighted to be offered a full time contract with Gloucestershire," McCarter told the club's official website (www.gloscricket.co.uk).

"I worked really hard this summer with bowling coaches Stuart Barnes and Jon Lewis and training was really intense, but it has all been worth it now. I am ecstatic and can’t wait for the opportunity to play professionally. "

Academy Director Owen Dawkins added: “It is great to see another GCCC Academy player being offered a full time contract. Graeme has been part of the Academy for 2 seasons and has regularly played for our 2nd XI. I look forward to seeing him continue with his hard work over the next year and seeing him progress into the first XI.”
