Cricket whites across the UK and Ireland are set to get even whiter as AEG prepares to be bowled over by entries to its 2013 Grassroots cricket campaign, where teams can win new kits, washing machines, and the chance to train at Lord’s with their sporting heroes.
 
This year’s competition will see 40 grassroots cricket teams across the country (junior and senior) receive an ultimate kit and laundry package that includes 11 bespoke cricket kits, designed by the winning teams, as well as a top of the range AEG washing machine in time for the start of the 2013 season.

The campaign has been launched by AEG, the premium home appliance brand renowned for combining advanced technology with award-winning design and forms part of the company’s on-going commitment to support grassroots sports throughout the UK. 

The initiative, now in its second year, has already provided grassroots clubs and schools with nearly 2000 full team kits, one of the biggest financial constraints for many teams, allowing them to distribute the money elsewhere into team costs and training.

Former England cricket star Darren Gough said: “It’s so important that AEG is continuing to support grassroots cricket this year. We need to give youth teams all the backing and support possible – they’re our future stars. The prizes on offer are money-can’t buy opportunities and I urge every team in the UK and Ireland to apply.”

2012 saw AEG supply hundreds of cricket shirts, trousers and caps to grassroots teams across the UK.  The winners designed their kits to include their club crests, ready for the start of the cricket season as well as an AEG washing machine to keep the whites in pristine condition. One lucky club, Kibworth Under 11s in Leicestershire, also received a training session with the England cricket team at Edgbaston and another won training with England cricket legends at their own club.

Duncan Jones who coaches Kibworth Under 11s said:  “I would strongly urge all grassroots teams to enter.  As well as winning a once in a lifetime opportunity to train with their England heroes, our team received a high-quality custom-made kit and an AEG washing machine which meant that we’ve been able to redistribute costs normally spent on sportswear and laundry towards training and other facilities for the club.”

The grassroots cricket competition is open to all teams - adult, junior and schools, anywhere in the UK. Anyone can apply for the kits, whether they are a coach, parent or fan of the team.
