Graham Napier Receives Injury Boost

Essex’s Graham Napier has been handed positive news following an MRI scan on the ankle injury he sustained at Canterbury last weekend.

The all-rounder was stretchered off after injuring his right ankle whilst fielding the ball off his own bowling during the NatWest Pro40 match against Kent Spitfires on Saturday.

Napier has been ruled out of the current LV County Championship match against Warwickshire but may feature in the County’s last four-day game of the season against Gloucestershire next week.

Essex Physio Peter Gettings issued the following statement to the Essex CCC website (www.essexcricket.org.uk):

"An MRI scan has shown a small tear in one of his right ankle ligaments and a sprain on one of his other right ankle ligaments. There is no bony damage. Graham will now undergo a period of physiotherapy and has not been ruled out of next week’s Championship game at Bristol at this stage."
