Greg Campbell Named As PNG General Manager

Cricket PNG is glad to announce former Australian Cricketer Greg Campbell as the General Manager of Cricket PNG, taking over from the departure of Bill Leane. Greg has been with Cricket PNG for over 12 months now and steps up from his former role as Cricket PNG Operations Manager.

Greg was appointed the role of Acting General Manager immediately after Bill Leane’s departure by the Cricket PNG board and has been leading the Cricket PNG staff from the front foot. The job was advertised recently and the board decided Greg was the best man for the job.

"The position was advertised globally and received very impressive applications from Australia to South Africa. It is absolutely amazing that over forty applicants expressed interest to work for Cricket PNG.

"The Cricket PNG Board unanimously selected Greg Campbell because of his broad experience covering Test Cricket, Coaching, business acumen, the one year exposure at cricket PNG, the relationship he has developed with the staff, Board, sponsors and the public at large with humility.

"The Board strongly believes that he has the passion, talent and the drive to consolidate the Cricket PNG's position in the world of cricket," said Mick Nades Cricket PNG Board Chairman.

 "We are very privileged to have Greg take over as the General Manager. He has been with us for 12 months already and he understands very well where cricket stands in PNG and where we need to go," said Lakani Oala the CPNG National Education & Training Manager.

"We can hit the ground running and keep up the momentum and growth cricket has accomplished over the last couple of years” said Lakani.

“Greg has a wealth of knowledge in cricket and I look forward to continue working alongside and learning from him,” said Rarua Dikana, CPNG Operations Manager.

“Not only does he provide us with knowledge in developing a successful administrative team, but he gives us a lot of hands on experience with coaching our National squads too” said Rarua.

Greg will be in the role for the next 12 months and his first major priority is to make sure the Barramundis perform to their best ability at the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Dubai in March.
