Experienced wicket-keeper Brad Haddin is to fly out to India and join up with the Australia Test squad after Matthew Wade suffered a sprained ankle.
Haddin will arrive in Mohali, ready to play in the third Test in Mohali, which begins on Thursday (14th March) if required.
"Matt has a complex ankle injury which has been confirmed by the scans and at this stage is in doubt for the Third Test starting on Thursday," Cricket Australia (CA) physio Alex Kountouris confirmed.
"A final decision on whether he will be available for the third Test will be made closer to the match."
Haddin, 35, has played 43 Tests, scoring 2,256 runs at 35.80, but Wade has recently been preferred as the number one gloveman.
Australia trail the four-match series 2-0 after defeats in Chennai and Hyderabad.
