Hampshire Cricket is delighted to announce an exclusive partnership with Paris Smith Solicitors. The Southampton-based firm – which is one of the largest independent regional firms of solicitors and Planning Consultants in Central Southern England – will be the club’s official legal partner.
The deal will last for one year and will see Paris Smith continue to assist Hampshire Cricket as the club transforms it’s home ground – The Rose Bowl – into the first Model Test match ground in the UK [according to the England and Wales Cricket Board’s own standards].
Managing Director at The Rose Bowl, Glenn Delve said; “Paris Smith have been an invaluable asset for Hampshire Cricket and The Rose Bowl for many years. Their expertise have been instrumental in transforming the ground from a very good International and domestic cricket venue, to one that is capable of hosting Test matches of the very highest level.
“In June, The Rose Bowl will host the first ever Test match on the South Coast and we feel sure that this historic event could not have happened without the help of Paris Smith and all our partners.”
Paris Smith has successfully worked with the club to obtain for them Planning permission on a major development proposal, which includes a 175-bed four-star hotel and two covered stands to increase current permanent seating capacity to 15,000 as well as an 18-hole championship golf course.
In addition, they helped the club obtain planning permission to allow Hampshire Cricket to make ground improvements and use the stadium for non-sport related uses. These initiatives have made a substantial difference to the revenue stream of the club, while also improving the spectator experience.
When the club wished to obtain planning permission to hold concerts at The Rose Bowl, Paris Smith were on hand to help the club secure this. They also obtained planning permission for the installation of World-Class floodlights, which have allowed the venue to used on a more frequent basis as well as helping in the bidding for major International cricket matches including The Rose Bowl’s first ever Test match.
Finally, Paris Smith has helped The Rose Bowl to improve access to the ground and the provision of adequate public transport as well as demand for on-site parking at the ground.
Zac Toumazi, The Rose Bowls new Group Commercial Director added “ in the short time I have spent with the Paris Smith team I can see why a partnership like this makes absolute sense. For The Rose Bowl to achieve our vision it is paramount that we associate with the best organisations to guide and assist us. The results of what Paris Smith have helped us with thus far are evident when you look around the ground and I am particularly pleased that we will continue on this exciting journey together”
Janet May, Partner and Head of Planning at Paris Smith said; “As legal and planning partners to The Rose Bowl, we are committed to a long term relationship focused on the continual growth for the region’s premier stadium venue. We are delighted to sign this agreement and look forward to working with Hampshire Cricket for a long time to come.
"We wish them every success in hosting their inaugural Test match. We feel sure that it will be an historic occasion for everyone involved."
