Hand Injury Sidelines Mohammad Hafeez

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been ruled out of tomorrow's Twenty20 International and the One-Day International series against Australia after suffering a hand injury during training.

The former Twenty20 captain split the webbing between the thumb and index finger on his left hand, requiring five stitches to repair the wound.

He was immediately ruled out for at least two weeks, which ends his chances of playing in the one-off Twenty20 in Dubai and the three ODIs on 7th, 10th and 12th October.

The first Test, scheduled to begin on 22nd October, could be a target for Hafeez to return although he has not played Test cricket since January.

The Pakistan Cricket Board have called up uncapped batsman Sami Aslam and left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar to the limited overs squads.

The injury completes a miserable few days for Hafeez, who was reported for bowling with a suspected illegal action during the Champions League T20.

He captained the Lahore Lions who failed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament, held in India, when they were beaten in their final group game by Perth Scorchers.
