Harmison And Sidebottom Succumb To Injuries

Durham and England bowler Stephen Harmison will miss the remainder of the County season after a back injury today ruled him out of all cricket for six to eight weeks.

Scans confirmed Harmison has a muscle tear in his right lower back after suffering the injury playing for Durham in the club's LV County Championship match against Surrey last week.

Harmison will continue to undergo rehabilitation treatment under the guidance of the ECB and Durham medical teams. The England team management will consider opportunities for Harmison to play cricket in the lead up to the Test tour of Sri Lanka in November.

Meanwhile, Ryan Sidebottom is set to miss the next two one-day internationals against India with an ongoing side strain problem. He picked up the injury in the third Test at The Brit Oval and is still recovering. The ECB are yet to decide on whether to name a replacement for the Nottinghamshire left-armer.
