South African left-arm spinner Paul Harris has been ruled out of cricket for up to three to four weeks with a fractured thumb, meaning his participation in the ongoing opening Test against Bangladesh is over.

He has a fracture to the base of his left thumb but Cricket South Africa are confident he will be fully fit in time to travel to Australia for the four-match Test series which begins in December.

Harris, who picked up a wicket on day two despite the injury, flew to Cape Town to consult a specialist on Friday and will have a thumb put in a cast.

He is, however, unlikely to be fit to travel to India to take part in the Champions League Twenty20 with the Nashua Titans.
