Ryan Harris has been recalled to Australia's One Day International squad for Monday's game against South Africa in Adelaide following an injury to Nathan Bracken.

Left-arm seamer Bracken suffered a calf strain during Friday's loss in Sydney and Harris, who made his debut in the second match in Hobart, comes back into the squad.

"Nathan suffered a slight strain to his left calf during last night's game," physio Alex Kountouris said. "He underwent a scan this morning in Sydney which has confirmed a small strain, ruling him out of Monday's game in Adelaide.

"We will continue to assess the injury over the next few days before a decision can be made on Nathan's availability for the Perth games against South Africa and New Zealand."

Australia trail South Africa 2-1 and must win at the Adelaide Oval on January 26th to keep the series alive.

"It is disappointing to lose Nathan Bracken for such a critical game, particularly given his current form and world ranking in the One Day format of the game," National Selection Panel chairman Andrew Hilditch added.

"However it does provide Ryan Harris with another opportunity to come back into the Australian squad after a good performance during his debut in Hobart."

Harris scored seven runs and returned one for 54 in ten overs in Hobart.
