Haywood Continues As Chairman, Oval Stay On Board
The Board of Leicestershire CCC are pleased to announce that, at a Board meeting that took place on Thursday 10th March, Paul Haywood was re-elected to serve as Chairman of the Club.
Philip Bland, who joined the board in late 2010 and has taken charge of the Club’s commercial operations was co-opted to the Board.
Directors heard that the Club is making steady progress against its Recovery Plan with financial targets being met.
Sales of Memberships and Corporate Hospitality are progressing well and the Club is on target to exceed its Sponsorship budget.
Chief Executive Mike Siddall said: "We’re really pleased with the progress being made in Sales & Marketing and are grateful for the support of local business in aiding our recovery plans.
"Everybody is looking forward to the start of the season at the beginning of April."
In addition, the club has announced a new sponsorship deal with The Oval Group as the club's main sponsor.
Leicestershire CCC Chief Executive Mike Siddall said: "It was a relief to know that we had the early backing of our main Club Sponsor despite all the trouble we encountered during 2010.
“It gave the Sales and Marketing team a real boost and we are now in a position, a month before the season starts, to have met our Sponsorship budget for 2011.
“The help we received from Matthew Hoggard in our discussions with Oval was enormous and went a long way to convincing them to stick with us."
To celebrate the link, The Oval Group’s Midlands Deputy Managing Director Stephen Foot and Club Captain Matthew Hoggard joined forces at Grace Road for a photograph.
Stephen is also pleased to be continuing The Oval Group’s association with the Club.
He said: “We have had a relationship with the Cricket Club for over 25 years, initially as an insurance broker and we then developed the relationship to include sponsorship.
“Leicestershire CCC sent a four-person team to talk to us and the message we have received is that of a positive future.
“There has been excellent commitment by the Club to work with The Oval Group to develop our profile and develop our business too.
“There is a massive influence of Matthew Hoggard’s leadership as Club Captain; he clearly has the respect of the Club and dressing room. Any positive performance starts with good leadership.”
Hoggard said that The Oval Group’s sponsorship was “paramount” ahead of the 2011 season.
He added: “The cricket looks after itself on the pitch but the sponsorship from The Oval Group has been a massive help off the pitch. We will help each other.”
