The opening One Day International between England and the West Indies at Headingley has been abandoned due to heavy rain.

Consistent rain left the pitch in no fit state for cricket and the decision was taken at 15:20 local time (14:20 GMT) to call the match off, much to the frustration and disappointment of both sets of players, not to mention those fans who had travelled to the ground.

The series now moves on to Bristol on 24th May and Edgbaston on 26th May.
