A disappointing weekend for Hartlepool Cricket Club saw all three teams beaten heavily by Redcar, Thornaby and Barnard Castle.
First XI v Redcar
The first XI welcomed Redcar to Park Drive hoping to move on from the inconsistency that has plagued their season so far.
Losing the toss and being asked to bat first, on what appeared to be a belting track, ‘Pool lost the early wicket of Jack Wilkinson. Pro Jon Rickard found the visitors bowling to his liking, striking two huge straight sixes as he rattled along to 35 in double quick time.
Unfortunately the home side then lost three quick wickets leaving captain Symington and Alan Tebbett to rebuild the innings.
The loss of Tebbett led to another mini-collapse before Callum Prosser finally showed that many hours of practice in the nets was paying off.
'The Pross' and Symington moved the score along with Callum striking four sixes in a magnificent 34 and Pool finished on 143 for nine from their 50 overs.
In reply Redcar got off to a solid if unspectacular start, the opening batsmen combining quick running with solid defence while waiting for the bad ball.
Symington rotated his bowlers to try and find an opening until Rickard took the first wicket. 'Symmo' bagged the second as visiting caption Rodgers fell LBW after scoring a fine 50. Unfortunately that was the final success as Redcar coasted home by eight wickets with more than 10 overs remaining.
The second team travelled to Thornaby and were comfortably beaten by 6 wickets
The 3rd XI visited Barnard Castle and were thrashed by 125 runs.
