Himley Cricket Club have signed Rajat Bhatia, the IPL Champions Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder, for the remainder of the season.

Bhatia was ever-present during the Knight Riders' 2012 success including the final victory over previous champions Chennai Super Kings in front of a crowd of over 60,000.

Bhatia, 32, plays first-class cricket for Delhi - and previously represented the Delhi Daredevils before switching to Kolkata - and boasts an impressive record of more than 4,200 first-class runs at an average of 48 as well as 88 wickets at 28 runs apiece.

Himley spokesman Greg Wright said "Signing Rajat brings us a wealth of talent and experience, which we felt we needed given the regular unavailability of some key players and tough batting conditions this season. Rajat is an ECB Level 2 coach and will also be helping develop our fine crop of juniors on Friday evenings.

"These are extremely exciting times for the club as we look to build on our recent momentum in the league and plan for the future. We hope to have Rajat in the country on Friday in time for the visit of Brockhampton to Stourbridge Road on Saturday."
