Carl Hopkinson is to take on a coaching role with Sussex, the club have announced, and he will assume his new position with immediate effect.

He joins the coaching team of Mark Robinson, Keith Greenfield and Mark Davis and although he will be primarily focussed on fielding, he will work with all teams at the club on all aspects of the game.

"Coaching is something that I enjoy on the same level as playing and when Robbo approached me mid-season about this, it was something that I wanted to grab with both hands. It's an area that I want to make a difference in," Hopkinson said.

Robinson added: "Carl has worked the last few years with the Sussex academy and last winter as a fielding coach with the England lions and England under 19s. He has all the attributes to be an outstanding coach."
