Horton And Newby Sign New Deals At Old Trafford

Lancashire locals Paul Horton and Oliver Newby have penned new contracts which will see them at the county until the end of 2009.

After being on the fringes of the starting XI last season, Horton, 24, has made his home at the top of the Lancashire batting order, scoring 860 runs so far this season in the County Championship.

Fast bowler Oliver Newby, 23, made his Red Rose debut in 2003 and has regularly featured in the Lancashire line up for the past two seasons. With the likes of Cork, Chapple and Mahmood spearheading the Lancashire attack this year, opportunities have been limited for Newby; but when selected he has delivered, notably his best match figures of 8-211 earlier this season against Warwickshire.

Both Paul Horton and Oliver Newby are contesting Lancashire's LV County Championship match against Durham in Blackpool (6-9 September).
