Australia 213-8 (Ponting 55, Hussey 40xno) beat
Pakistan 212 (Umar Akmal 67, Fawad Alam 63) by three wickets
Scorecard
Fifth One-Day International, Perth
Michael Hussey was unbeaten on 40 as Australia beat Pakistan by two wickets with four balls to spare in the fifth and final One-Day International in Perth.
Pakistan were bowled out for 212 and in reply, Australia reached 213 for eight in the final over of the match.
Pakistan got off to a terrible start when they were reduced to 16 for three but innings of 67 from Umar Akmal and 63 from Fawad Alam put them on course for a competitive score, although Clint McKay's four for 35 kept them in check.
Ricky Ponting stroked 55 in reply but Australia lost wickets regularly, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik bagging a brace each before Hussey guided them home, facing 46 balls in all.
The two sides now play a Twenty20 International on 5th February in Melbourne.
