Northamptonshire Steelbacks' vastly experienced overseas player, Sri Lankan seam bowler Chaminda Vaas, hopes that the crowd will get behind his team's bid for Friends Provident t20 glory.
And he has called on supporters to turn out in their numbers on Tuesday (8th June) when the club play's their first home game against Leicestershire.
“I hope the fans get down here and help us battle to victory. At the same time I know the supporters will enjoy themselves,” he said.
“Twenty20 is all about entertainment. It’s great fun for us to play and I’m really looking forward to getting out there and performing for the Steelbacks and for the fans.”
“I know that the team has done really well in recent years and we have the players capable of going all the way this year. We really can do wonders this season, but we need you the fans to help us!”
New floodlights will light up the County Ground and the county have also revealed that cheerleaders, fancy dress, flags and clappers will be on hand to liven up the atmosphere.
