The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed the Honourable Michael Beloff QC to hear the appeal of the Indian board (BCCI) against the decision taken last week to award no international cricket fixtures to the Feroz Shah Kotla until December 2010.

That decision was made after the fifth One-Day International between India and Sri Lanka on 27th December 2009 was abandoned due to an unfit pitch.

"Mr Beloff is the Chairman of the ICC Code of Conduct Commission and an extremely experienced sports lawyer and sits frequently as an arbitrator in the Court of Arbitration for Sport," an ICC statement confirmed.

"The matter will now proceed in accordance with the ICC’s Pitch and Outfield Monitoring Process and no further statement will be issued until after the matter has been decided," it added.
