The ICC World Twenty20 2012 trophies have been ceremoniously accepted at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka after arriving from Dubai.

The trophies were delivered to the host country at the completion of their global tour and the men’s and women’s trophies were met by Ajit Jayasakera, the Sri Lanka Cricket Chief Executive Officer, and ICC World Twenty20 2012 Tournament Director Upekha Nell.

Later in the day, the trophies were paraded alongside elephants, dancers and drummers in ‘Perahera’ style through the streets of Colombo to Independence Square where they were formally received by Sri Lanka Sports Minister Hon. Mahindananda Aluthgamage and Sri Lanka Cricket President Upali Dharmadasa from ICC Chief Executive David Richardson.

The tournament gets underway on 18th September.
