England Women have been forced to make a change to their ICC World Twenty20 squad after Anya Shrubsole was ruled out with a back injury.
Her place has been taken by 21-year-old off-spinner Daniella Hazell, who hails from Durham and plays for the Durham Academy.
Clare Connor head of women’s cricket commented: “We are obviously hugely disappointed that Anya has been withdrawn from the England squad on the eve of the ICC World Twenty20 as she would undoubtedly have played a significant part in the team's campaign. However, we want to ensure that Anya, who is still only 17 years old, has ten successful years ahead of her playing for England.
"The advice of the ECB's Chief Medical Officer and the England Women's Physiotherapist was utterly clear and now the experts will work on a rehab programme for Anya to follow once we know the results of her scan. One player's disappointment is another player's opportunity and we welcome Danielle Hazell in to the squad as Anya's replacement."
The Women's tournament gets underway on 11th June with England in Group B with India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
