Scotland have named their 15-man squad for the ICC World Twenty20 to be held in England in June with 11 of the players who played in the inaugural competition in 2007 retaining their place in the squad.
Newcomers are Fraser Watts, Gordon Drummond, Glenn Rogers, and Richie Berrington and they will be led by new captain Gavin Hamilton.
"This event will be a huge test for us all, playing some fantastic sides on the biggest stage cricket can offer," Hamilton said. "We have made some positive steps forward in the last couple of weeks and the full squad is looking forward enormously to testing ourselves against the world’s best. It was pleasing that we had some difficult decisions to make, as this shows we have a number of players capable of playing at this level."
Scotland will take on New Zealand and South Africa in Group D of the tournament, playing both of their matches at The Oval.
In 2007, Scotland failed to qualify from a group that included eventual finalists India and Pakistan and they have recently returned from the 2011 World Cup Qualifier in South Africa, where they finished in sixth place, a position that enabled them to retain their ODI status for the next four years, despite not qualifying for the World Cup.
Scotland: Gavin Hamilton (captain), Richie Berrington, John Blain, Kyle Coetzer, Gordon Drummond, Majid Haq, Neil McCallum, Navdeep Poonia, Dewald Nel, Glenn Rogers, Colin Smith, Jan Stander, Fraser Watts, Ryan Watson and Craig Wright.
