Scorecard
ICC Women's World Twenty20 Group B, Taunton
England Women outclassed Sri Lanka Women to take a 71-run win in their ICC Women's World Twenty20 group match at Taunton and qualify for the semi-finals.
Claire Taylor (right) anchored England's innings of 140 for seven with an unbeaten 75 before Isa Guha and Holly Colvin shared four wickets as Sri Lanka limped to 69 for eight.
Taylor, at the crease early after captain Charlotte Edwards fell for one, faced 54 balls and hit 11 fours and her innings was crucial for England because after a partnership of 37 with Sarah Taylor (24), only Caroline Atkins (13 not out from number nine) could reach double figures.
Eshani Lokusooriya picked up four for 18 as Beth Mogan (5), Lydia Greenway (4), Jenny Gunn (9), Nicki Shaw (4) and Laura Marsh (0) all fell cheaply but England's score was still big enough to seal a big win.
Sri Lanka were quickly in all sorts of trouble when they fell to six for two, 12 for three and 49 for seven as England's bowlers were on top form.
Guha, opening the bowling with Shaw, picked up two for four and left-arm spinner Holly Colvin picked up two for 15 with Gunn and Marsh picking up a wicket apiece.
Top scorer was wicket-keeper Dilani Manodara, who made an unbeaten 22 in 40 balls.
