India 119-3 (R Sharma 48no) beat
Sri Lanka 96 (Kumar 4-8) by 81 runs (D/L)
ODI Tri-Series, Port of Spain
India beat Sri Lanka by 81 runs in a rain-interrupted final group game of the Celkon Mobile One-Day International tri-series in Port of Spain.
They posted 119 for three in 29 overs and after Sri Lanka were set 178 in 26 to win, they were dismissed for just 96 as Bhuvneshwar Kumar returned figures of four for eight in his six overs.
The result means that the two sides meet again in the final on 11th July after India's victory comfortably squeezed out the West Indies.
Rohit Sharma top scored for India with 48 not out in 83 balls as he and Virat Kohli (31) made amends for the early departure of Shikhar Dhawan for 15.
Rangana Herath (2-32) dismissed Kohli and Dinesh Karthik for 12 before Suresh Raina was unbeaten on four when rain brought about a premature end to India's innings.
The Duckworth/Lewis method put Sri Lanka under pressure to score and they failed to rise to the challenge.
Although they were able to take advantage of some loose deliveries from Umesh Yadav, Kumar was outstanding and earned the wickets of Upul Tharanga (6), Mahela Jayawardene (11), Kumar Sangakkara (0) and Lahiru Thirimanne (0) in a devastating spell.
The heart of Sri Lanka's batting duly ripped out and the score at 31 for four, India were not to be headed and continued to take wickets as Sri Lanka failed to bat out their allotted overs.
Dinesh Chandimal top scored with 26 in 54 balls as Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja both picked up two for 17 with Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin rounding off a fine all-round performance by India with a wicket apiece.
