Jamaica and West Indian all-rounder Marlon Samuels has been suspended from bowling in international cricket, pending fresh assessment, after independent analysis of his action determined that both his regular off-spin delivery and his quicker ball exceeded the 15 degree level of tolerance.

Dr Mark King carried out the analysis in Loughborough, which showed that his normal delivery sees his elbow flex at an angle of 27 degrees, with the quicker ball, the ball which was initially only suspect, showing an angle of 35 degrees.

Samuels was reported during the third Test against South Africa in Durban in January and will now not be allowed to bowl in international cricket until his action is reassessed and passed.

He has, however, continued to bowl for Jamaica during the Stanford 20/20, using his faster ball to good effect to help his side close out a one-run semi-final win over Guyana. His side went on to lose the final by nine wickets to Trinidad & Tobago.

He does have the right to appeal against the conclusions of Dr. King.

Samuels has to date played 27 Tests, 104 One Day Internationals, six Twenty20 Internationals and taken 66 international wickets.
