The ICC Intercontinental Cup match between Afghanistan and Ireland has been moved back two days due to presidential elections in Sri Lanka.
The match is being held in Dambulla because there are no grounds of first-class standard in Afghanistan and teams would likely be reluctant to travel to the war-torn country and the four-day game will now begin on 21st January rather than the 23rd.
Sri Lanka is holding elections on 26th January and Sri Lanka Cricket requested the move for security and logistical reasons.
It will be the first meeting between the two countries at first-class level following the One-Day game that the two sides played in the 2011 World CUp Qualifier in South Africa, when Afghanistan won by 22 runs.
