Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has confirmed he is to retire from Test cricket with immediate effect, bringing to an end a career in the longest form of the game that saw him gain 76 caps and take 310 wickets.
His tally puts him fourth on the Australian all-time list behind Shane Warne (708), Glenn McGrath (563) and Dennis Lillee (355).
Lee made his debut for Australia in the 1999 Boxing Day Test against India at Melbourne and his final Test appearance came at the same venue against South Africa in 2009.
Since then, he has battled with foot, rib and elbow injuries which ruled him out of any further Test appearances but he was able to play a part in Australia's ICC Champions Trophy win in South Africa and a 6-1 ODI series win in England.
“I am extremely proud to have played Test cricket for Australia," Lee said. "My reason for retiring from this form of the game is so that I can preserve my body and continue to represent my country in the other forms of the game."
