England all-rounder Paul Collingwood has been named as the Cricket World® Player Of The Week after he marked his record 171st ODI cap with a superb performance in Pretoria.
He overtook Alec Stewart's record to become the most-capped England player and helped his side win the second ODI against South Africa by seven wickets to go 1-0 up in the five-match series after the opening match was washed out.
Collingwood first took a superb catch at backward point to dismiss AB de Villiers, then picked up two wickets as England restricted South Africa to 250 for nine and he finished off the match with an unbeaten 105 in 110 balls.
He hit seven fours and two sixes to help the tourists get home with four overs to spare and register their sixth successive ODI victory over the Proteas.
Other contenders for the weekly award included Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mahela Jayawardene and James Anderson.
