We caught up with Nottinghamshire all-rounder Graeme White in the early part of the county season, and asked him for his thoughts on his side's opening season, his goals for the season, and whether England would win the Ashes.

On Nottinghamshire's pre-season...

"It's been a good pre-season, we went away to Barbados before we started, it all went well out there and we're all pretty confident coming into this season.

"It went well on a personal level as well. It's nice to get the season underway and try to get a few more games and push the case for you to be playing really.

On Nottinghamshire's start to the season - a loss to Middlesex at home and a win away at Derbyshire...

"We were disappointed with the first game against Middlesex, losing that at home, our record over the last 5-6 years has been really strong, early season at home. I think that's probably the first game we've lost in about six seasons.

"We were all really disappointed seeing as though our pre-season planning and tours and everything like that building up to it went really well, so it was a bit of a shock start for us. Looking at the game in Derby we seem to be getting everything together and have bounced back really well so we'll be very pleased about that.

"We learnt a lot from that first game, we know we don't just become a bad side after one game, we were able to put that aside and go back to what we do best, scoring big runs first innings and then backing our bowlers, which is a very strong attack considering who we have left out.

"We're all confident that this game now will push is on to recording a few back to back wins, hopefully."

On his targets for 2013...

"I'd like to be pushing on the one-day front, getting my name in the mix for that side and working my way into the four-day team when places maybe become available whether it's through injury or call ups.

"I just have to keep making sure I'm doing the right work, in the second team and putting scores on the board, and just keep showing (head coach) Mick (Newell) I'm going well really."

Graeme White's Ashes prediction...

"The Australian squad been announced looks strong, even though people are writing them off, it will be a very tough series.

"I'm backing England with the depth they have with bowling and batting at the moment, I see us edging it, but it will be a close run thing but I think England will definitely go really well."
