Scorecard

The Deccan Chargers produced their fifth straight Indian Premier League victory, beating the Delhi Daredevils by 11 runs and book their place in the semi-finals.

Andrew Symonds scored 54 in 30 balls as the Chargers made 145 for seven and in reply, despite an unbeaten half-century from Paul Collingwood, the Delhi Daredevils exited the competition after reaching 134 for seven.

Symonds blasted three fours and five sixes to help the Chargers recover from losing early wickets, those of in-form batsmen Tirumalasetti Suman (5) and Rohit Sharma (11) giving the Daredevils a major boost.

However, Symonds, backed up by 13 from Mitchell Marsh and an unbeaten 14 from Rahul Sharma, put the Chargers back on track despite the best efforts of the Daredevils, for whom Ashish Nehra and Umesh Yadav took a pair of wickets apiece.

The Daredevils then lurched to 39 for four, losing their top four batsmen inside seven overs and they never recovered.

Collingwood hit 52 in 42 balls, with one four and three sixes and Nehra hit out to reach 22 not out in 16 balls, but a pair of wickets apiece from Pragyan Ojha and Harmeet Singh, as well as two overs for just eight runs from Symonds, ensured that the Chargers were able to close out the game and keep their hopes of retaining their title.
