Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ruled out of his side's next four matches after he was sidelined for ten days with an elbow injury.

The batsman was hit on the elbow by a Shane Bond injury during his innings of 66 for the Super Kings against the Kolkata Knight Riders and despite the knock, he continued to bat and kept wicket, marshalling his side to a comprehensive 55-run victory at Eden Gardens.

Dhoni will now miss matches against the Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.

Batsman Suresh Raina will take over the captaincy in Dhoni's absence and Parthiv Patel will take up wicket-keeping duties.

Although the 2010 IPL has yet to get through its first week, already the tournament has lost Rajasthan Royals pair Graeme Smith and Dimitri Mascarenhas due to injury.
