Indian Premier League, Bangalore
Scorecard
The Mumbai Indians reasserted their dominance during the group stages of the 2010 Indian Premier League by thrashing the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 57 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
After the match was delayed for an hour due to two explosions close to the stadium, the Indians piled up 191 for four beforethe Royal Challengers lost wickets at regular intervals before closing on 134 for nine.
Mumbai promoted Ryan McLaren to open the batting with Sachin Tendulkar and the South African made 40 in 42 balls, allowing other batsmen to play the big shots and although Tendulkar made just 19, explosive innings from Ambati Rayudu, Kieron Pollard and JP Duminy guided their side to a winning score.
Rayudu thumped 46 in 27 balls, Pollard 20 in seven and Duminy was unbeaten on 42 in 19 deliveries as they took advantage of the Challengers dropping three catches and offering up 15 extras.
In reply, the Challengers made a steady start but quickly lost their way as they lost wickets and fell behind the rate.
Virat Kohli top scored with 37 and Kevin Pietersen made 21 in a disappointing batting display which was stymied by excellent bowling and fielding from the Indians.
Pollard completed a fine week with figures of three for 28, dismissing Robin Uthappa (4), Kohli and Pankaj Singh (1).
