The Rajasthan Royals' West Indian all-rounder Kevon Cooper has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2012.

The powerful Trinidadian suffered a knee fracture during the match against the Delhi Daredevils on 29th April and has been sidelined for four to five weeks.

He made an immediate impact for the Royals, hitting a six from the first ball he faced and taking ten wickets, prior to the arrival of Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, whose introduction does at least mean that Cooper's absence may not be too keenly felt.

Royals captain Rahul Dravid paid tribute to Cooper's contribution by saying, "He has come in as a young kid and performed exceptionally well and done some difficult jobs for us."

The Royals are next in action when they play the Kings XI Punjab in Mohali tomorrow (5th May), bidding to move up from seventh place in the table.

Rajasthan Royals have signed English batsman Owais Shah to fill the space in their squad created by the retirement of captain Shane Warne. Warne has stood down having led the Royals to the Indian Premier League title in 2008 and the Royals will become Shah's fourth side, having previously represented the Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders and Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
