Australian all-rounder Steve Smith is to return home from the Indian Premier League and receive treatment on a lower back injury.
He had been playing for the Pune Warriors, making seven appearances and scoring 159 runs, but his tournament has come to a premature end.
Cricket Australia (CA) expect him to be fit in time for the Australia 'A' tour of England in June, where Smith will be vice-captain, however.
Smith has played seven Tests, 33 One-Day Internationals and 20 Twenty20 Internationals and made his international debut in February 2010.
Although he enjoyed a successful IPL in 2012, he was not selected for Pune's early matches and was not likely to feature in their remaining games, hence the decision to arrange for his early departure.
